A unique private stadium in Africa

It was on April 29, 2010 that TP Mazembe started work on its future stadium. On the site of the former Mwanke stadium, which recalls so many memories to the elders but which it was necessary to demolish to make clear place. Two years and three months later, a first game was played on the artificial turf of a complex called "Stade TP Mazembe".

Thus, in this popular area of Kamalondo where the team has its roots, a new ultramodern arena has emerged from the earth and has now many jealous people throughout the continent. Few teams – not to say none in Africa – can boast their own stadium, designed in compliance with the most demanding FIFA standards. And it has become a must-see site for any visitor arriving in the copper city.

A carpet usable 365 days a year

For more than two years the large construction site has occupied nearly 200 workers every day and no less than 250 tons of metal were needed to build this temple of sport.

All aspects have been carefully studied. The pitch was equipped with a synthetic grass of 3rd generation on which one can play in all the season. Drainage studied to the nearest millimeter evacuates the rainwater with an extraordinary efficiency.

Access to the stands is being controlled by 12 electronic gates worthy of the best sports venues in Europe and elsewhere. The ticket of the spectator is equipped with a bar code that allows the opening. Players are entitled to a recuperation pool, three Jacuzzis, Sauna and Hamman after the effort. And the wounded will continue their rehabilitation in the premises of a sports clinic totally equipped on the technological high-level or on the equipment of the gym.

On July 12, 2012, historical date

Approved in June 2012 after the visit of Jean Fidèle BIRAMBA, CAF inspector, the stadium hosted his first official game on July 12, during the TPM victory over Muungano on behalf of the Super League of LINAFOOT. And Rainford KALABA, bib 18, will remain for eternity the player who scored the first goal in the 18th minute of the match.

Floodlight and electronic advertising

Ten days later, it was a first continental game that took place there with the quarter-final TPM-Berekum Chelsea of Ghana (2-2). For the occasion, Mazembe signed another "premiere" by displaying electronic advertisements on the LED panels and LED screens of the stadium, an innovation freshly welcomed by the marketing agent of CAF and which worked perfectly. 180 meters of panel offer the advertisers a high-performance support.

And to finish off well the year, 264 floodlight were installed on December 12 on four metal poles more than 40 meters high. Lighting that allows night-time games with perfect visibility.

VIPs access the 15 lodges served by elevators to enjoy special moments. They benefit from a real place of life, comfortable and welcoming. Business executives and executives receive their guests with all the comfort required, with soft sofas, catering service, in front of flat screens and in a decorated and air-conditioned space. But also, hopefully, a very nice show offered by the local players.
